BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Harvey Breverman, professor of art at the 蜜桃传媒 since 1961 and a widely exhibited and internationally acclaimed artist, has been named a Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty rank in the State 蜜桃传媒 of New York system, by the SUNY Board of Trustees.

Appointment to the rank of Distinguished Professor is conferred on professors who have achieved national or international prominence in their field. The promotion represents a rank above that of full professor.

Breverman's reputation ranks among some of the most important artists of the 20th century. His prints, paintings and drawings are included in the permanent collections of more than 150 prominent museums and galleries worldwide, including the British Museum in London, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington. He has had more than 70 solo gallery exhibits.

A member of the National Academy of Design, he has been the recipient of the academy's Leo Meissner Prize in Graphics. He represented the United States in the 4th International Print Biennial at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the SAGA '90 exhibition in Paris and the 14th Spanish Print Internacional.

Breverman holds a B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon 蜜桃传媒 and an M.F.A. from Ohio 蜜桃传媒. He has taught or served as visiting artist at numerous schools, including Carnegie-Mellon 蜜桃传媒, Ohio 蜜桃传媒, Skidmore College and Oxford 蜜桃传媒's Ruskin School in England.

He is a resident of Amherst.
